Man United refuse to lower offer price for Rashford

Manchester United have refused to consider a reduction in price for Marcus Rashford, insisting on the £26.2m he previously agreed with Barcelona.

The 28-year-old excelled during his time in Spain, but reports suggest Barcelona are considering negotiating a lower transfer fee.

The Mirror reported: “Manchester United will not accept an offer for Marcus Rashford that is less than the €30m (approximately £26.2m) he agreed with Barcelona before his loan move last summer.”

“The 28-year-old English attacker fell out of favor under former United head coach Ruben Amorim and has made his dream move to Camp Nou after months of speculation in the transfer market. The deal included an option to make the move permanent for between €30 million and €35 million (about £3.05 billion).

“Rashford has impressed in Spain since he put pen to paper and is keen to continue playing for Barça beyond this season.

“He has scored 10 goals and is in great form, but there are suggestions that the Spanish giants may try to negotiate a lower transfer fee than previously agreed for the forward.

“Whether that attitude complicates matters for Rashford this summer remains to be seen, but despite the fact that Amorim was sacked last month, a return to Old Trafford remains considered unlikely.”

Manchester United are in no hurry to become manager

The Telegraph believes Manchester United are in no rush to appoint a new head coach despite Michael Carrick’s bright start.

Instead, United’s leaders will take their time to ensure they find a suitable candidate to replace Ruben Amorim.

The newspaper said: “Despite Michael Carrick’s excellent start to the role, Manchester United will now go through a full recruitment process for their next manager, considering all available options.”

“Carrick has been appointed head coach until the end of the season and his role does not have the word ‘interim’ in it after replacing Ruben Amorim a month ago.

“The 44-year-old former United midfielder is unbeaten in his first five games and the club are in the Champions League places, 12 points behind Premier League leaders Arsenal.

“However, it is understood that United want to take their time to get the next appointment right, and those involved expect the process to be methodical and time-consuming, rather than reacting immediately to the outcome.”

Trafford expected to leave Man City

The Athletic has revealed details of James Trafford’s move to Manchester City this summer, with the player expected to leave the club at the end of the season.

To Trafford’s surprise, Gianluigi Donnarumma has arrived, but as a result he has struggled to get playing time on the pitch.

The website said: “Ahead of the summer transfer window, Trafford was looking to join Newcastle United and City have been given the opportunity to respond to the offer made to him.

“So, as Newcastle prepare to sign long-serving player Martin Dubravka off his contract, Burnley (who ultimately signed Dubravka as a free agent) notified City and City acted quickly.

“Newcastle were frustrated by this situation as they did not know about the clause until about two weeks before City joined. Sources close to the north-east club, speaking on condition of anonymity to protect their position, believe that the framework of Trafford’s current contract at the Etihad is indeed in place when he leaves in 2023 and that his return at some point will be a formality.

“Newcastle were upset that Trafford was committed to returning to City despite his previous intention to move to St James’ Park, but this at least highlights how keen he was at the prospect of returning.

“As things stand, it is unlikely that he will want to wait another year and given his talent and potential, there will be no shortage of suitors in the summer window.”

Klopp will not join Madrid

The Daily Star has given us an update on the German’s future after an article linked former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp with Manchester United and Chelsea.

Klopp has been mentioned as a long-term candidate to manage Real Madrid, but he is unlikely to be tempted into the role.

The newspaper said: “Manchester United and Chelsea have strongly denied offers for Jurgen Klopp to become manager. Klopp’s agent, Marc Kosicke, caused a media stir on Monday by claiming both clubs were interested in the former Liverpool manager after he left Anfield.”

“Kosicke also suggested that Klopp could have taken charge of England in 2024 following the departure of Gareth Southgate. However, the 58-year-old opted to step back from coaching and became Red Bull’s head of global football last year.

“It has recently been rumored that Klopp is a candidate to manage Real Madrid, but the Anfield legend does not expect to return to the touchline next season.”
