Spurs wait for Pochettino

Tottenham are looking for a new permanent manager and will wait for former manager Mauricio Pochettino to take over.

Spurs need a long-term replacement for Igor Tudor following the sacking of Thomas Frank.

The Telegraph reported: “Tudor will replace Thomas Frank in the short term, but Spurs remain open to Pochettino returning in the summer after taking charge of the US team at the World Cup.”

“Tottenham’s decision to wait until the summer to make his permanent appointment will excite Pochettino’s supporters who want him back at the club and who shouted his name in the defeat to Newcastle United.

“Pochettino posted a photo on Instagram of himself at a restaurant with Toni Jimenez, a member of his coaching staff, and revealed that he is currently in London.”

Two more candidates for Spurs

Two former Borussia Dortmund managers could become Tottenham’s permanent managers.

Igor Tudor could remain in charge until the end of the season, but Marco Rose and Edin Terzic could be long-term options.

The Sun first discussed Rose, writing: “SunSport understands that the 49-year-old is keen on a move to the Premier League having turned down offers from Saudi Arabia since being released by RB Leipzig in March last year.”

“Rose wants to start his next role as manager after a thorough pre-season preparation.

“Another former Dortmund manager candidate is Edin Terzic.

“The 43-year-old has turned down numerous interests since leaving BVB in 2024, including an offer from Champions League side Monaco.”

Antonio involved in signing with Charlton

Former West Ham forward Michail Antonio could return to football in 2024 after a life-threatening car accident.

According to the Daily Mail, the 35-year-old forward is training with Charlton Athletic and could sign a short-term contract.

The newspaper said: “Mail Antonio is training with Charlton Athletic and discussions are underway regarding a short-term deal for the free agent striker.

“The Championship side are making an offer for the 35-year-old player, which is understood to be a salary based on his performance until the summer.

“Former West Ham forward Antonio has not played a competitive game for England since December 2024, when he suffered multiple fractures to his leg in a near-fatal car accident.”

Nuñez’s future is uncertain

With Karim Benzema joining Al Hilal, Darwin Nunez’s future in the Saudi Professional League is uncertain.

The 26-year-old Uruguayan is not included in the club’s squad, as it was not possible to create space for him due to restrictions on foreign players in the team.

The Mirror wrote: “Darwin Nunez finds himself in a difficult situation in Saudi Arabia after the former Liverpool striker was left out of Al Hilal’s squad to fill the void left by Karim Benzema.”

“The 26-year-old Uruguayan star leaves the Premier League champions after just eight starts in the Reds’ title-winning 2024-25 campaign, with Liverpool taking a huge hit with the £85m package they agreed with Benfica to bring him to Anfield in the first place.

“Since moving to the Middle East, Nunez has been a mainstay in the Saudi Professional League, scoring seven goals in 23 games, but was left out of the 25-man squad after Benzema’s capture.”

Rashford’s future could be resolved soon

i Paper believes Barcelona’s upcoming presidential election could help settle Marcus Rashford’s future.

The Manchester United forward could be snapped up by the Catalan for £26 million, but it will ultimately go to the winner of the election.

The newspaper reported: “Barcelona will hold its 15th presidential election in a month. Joan Laporta, the most recent president who had to resign for re-election, is the favorite to win again, but five other candidates are vying to oust the colorful 63-year-old president.”

“No matter who wins the race for the Camp Nou’s hot spot, one of the first decisions that awaits them will be whether to secure Rashford long-term and part with their limited spare cash.

“Laporta is a big fan of Rashford and was instrumental in bringing him to Barcelona in the first place, along with sporting director Deco. The i-paper is told that Laporta would support a permanent deal if finances allowed, and that at least two of the other candidates would do the same.”
