Manager Thomas Tuchel will lead England to this summer’s World Cup, and the German has already received advice from one of his predecessors ahead of the tournament.
Manager Fabio Capello has insisted that fatigue could be crucial to new contract signing Thomas Tuchel’s hopes of leading England to the World Cup. The German will lead the Three Lions into this summer’s tournaments in the USA, Canada and Mexico after a perfect qualification.
Having reached the semi-finals under Gareth Southgate, England went all the way under Tuchel and are now one of the favorites to end their trophy drought. His contract with the FA was expected to expire at the end of the tournament, but the German player has signed a two-year extension.
Despite this, the former Chelsea manager has been warned by fellow former England manager Capello. He claimed the energy-draining nature of the Premier League could cause problems. “Tuchel led the national team to the World Cup without tiring the players. I know that when I was England manager in September, October and November, we were able to play against the best teams in the world without any problems,” he said.
“But in March and April the players start to show signs of fatigue and the English league is very physically demanding so by June the players are always very tired.

“There is not as much psychological pressure from the press as there is in Spain or Italy, but England’s fatigue is purely physical.”
Capello only led England to the World Cup once. They advanced to the last 16 at the 2010 South African Championships. The Italian remained in charge after the tournament and also oversaw the Euro 2012 qualifying campaign.
However, Capello resigned several months before the tournament following the decision to strip John Terry of his Three Lions captaincy. Tuchel has also signed a new contract with the FA, extending his stay with the national team until 2028, meaning he will continue to serve as manager.

“We’ll have a lot of players who want to play until May to play for international titles, and they’ll play for domestic titles and we’ll demand them too. The World Cup will ask a lot of them,” Tuchel said last month about the tournament.
“It’s a big tournament in terms of the distances, the time zones you travel, the altitudes – the elevation changes, the different weather conditions. It’s going to be very hot. There’s going to be a lot of guys who want to play for international titles until hopefully May, and they’re going to play for national titles and we’re going to ask a lot of them.”
“If we make it to the end, we’ll hopefully be together for six to eight weeks. It’s going to require a lot of social skills and group cohesion, and we need to be nominated correctly.”
