Tottenham begin their search for a new manager to replace Thomas Frank, with the former Premier League manager established as available and bookmakers’ favorites
Tottenham lost manager Thomas Frank after just eight months in charge. His last game was a home defeat to Newcastle, which sent the club perilously close to dropping into the Premier League relegation zone. Frank was appointed at the start of the season to replace Ange Postecoglou, who was sacked despite Tottenham ending Tottenham’s long trophy drought with victory in the Europa League.
During his time in charge, Frank was unable to make a positive impact as fans became dissatisfied with the former Brentford manager. Although he succeeded in leading Spurs to the knockout stages of the Champions League, the team’s form in the Premier League was poor and supporters repeatedly called for his departure. Tottenham are currently winless in their last eight league games and have not celebrated a home win in the Premier League since early December.
All eyes are now on potential successors to Frank. Bookmakers have named former Brighton & Hove Albion manager Roberto De Zerbi as the frontrunner to replace him after his sudden overnight departure from Marseille. De Zerbi’s impressive track record of leading Brighton to their first trip to Europe and Marseille back into the Champions League makes him an attractive option for the Spurs board.
William Hill have listed De Zerbi as a candidate to be Tottenham’s next manager, but there are several other candidates as well. Fan favorite Mauricio Pochettino is given a 4/1 chance of returning, but given his current role with the U.S. national team, a move will likely have to wait until after this summer’s World Cup. Other candidates include former Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim (11/1), outgoing Crystal Palace coach Oliver Glasner (10/1) and former Spurs striker Robbie Keane (7/1), who has won praise for his recent work at Hungarian club Ferencváros.
