Manchester United’s lead came to a halt at the London Stadium, but Benjamin Sesco secured the points with a vital equalizer in the 96th minute.
Michael Carrick praised Lenny Yolo’s outstanding one-on-one defending that allowed Manchester United to wrest a crucial draw from West Ham. The Red Devils’ winning streak ended at four games, but Benjamin Sesco’s equalizing goal in the 96th minute gave them a point.
Yoro was brought on for Harry Maguire at the same time as Sesco was brought on for Matheus Cunha with a quarter of the game remaining at the London Stadium. Despite West Ham having some great chances to extend their lead, 20-year-old Yoro made two important blocks to keep his team in contention.
It was Yoro’s first appearance in Carrick’s five-game tenure as manager, but his contribution was crucial as Sesco’s superb strike secured them a point to extend their unbeaten record.

Carrick threw his attacking body onto the pitch to protect points and cited his ability to prevent Yoro’s departure as a key contributor to the result.
“It’s always worth trying to get something out of the game,” he explained. “I have to give credit to Rennie. His double defense, his one-on-one defense, his counter-attack defense, I thought he knew he had to throw his body forward at times. I think those two moments where he blocked shots were huge,” reports the Manchester Evening News.
“He deserves a lot of credit for that. Then he gave us a chance to go and get a goal to get something out of the game. We had a chance, Josh had a chance and obviously Casemiro scored (the undoing goal). I didn’t see it, but it must have been close, but it must have been a big moment for Ben. We had to go for it and try to get something out of the game.”

Carrick’s perfect run as United manager came to an end against the Hammers and he had mixed emotions after the final whistle. But he remained optimistic about certain aspects of the performance, particularly the team’s fifth straight game in which they delayed a goal.
“It’s a mixed feeling. We know we’re not at our best. I think it’s credit to West Ham for being able to squeeze in certain spaces little by little, but I think we can be better. The players are a bit frustrated and disappointed with it, which to me is a really good sign,” he said.
“And to end up with a goal in the second half when we had to find a goal is a good moment and another positive to know that we can do it. We don’t have to pull it and use it too often, but I think in the big picture there are points that we can get, and we kind of cut ourselves a little bit and evaluate that and I think it’s a big positive to play these games over a five-game period and just get one draw there, so it’s really mixed feelings.”
