Chelsea conceded a two-goal lead against Leeds United at Stamford Bridge, but Blues manager Liam Rosenior was unhappy with one particular decision that went against his team.
Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior has slammed the “unacceptable” decision to allow Leeds United an equalizer in Tuesday’s draw at Stamford Bridge. After Joao Pedro’s opening goal and Cole Palmer’s penalty, the Blues looked set for a comfortable victory.
However, with just under 25 minutes remaining, Leeds were awarded a spot kick, which was taken by Lucas Nmeka. Daniel Farke’s side equalized six minutes later when Chelsea failed to clear the ball, with Noah Okafor heading home.
But they believed the goal should have been canceled out by Jayden Bogle’s hand. Although the goal was scored, Rosenior criticized the decision.
Speaking to TNT Sports, he said:
“The rules say if there was contact with his hands, it shouldn’t be allowed, but I haven’t seen it to make that judgment.
After being briefed on the decision, he added: “Rules are rules. My understanding is that if there was a handball leading up to the goal, it should not be allowed.”

“If they said that, somebody please explain the rules to me, because I need to help the referees. It makes me even more angry when you say that, because if they made that decision, it’s unacceptable.”
The Premier League provided an explanation as to why the goal was deemed legal. A statement from X’s Premier League Match Center said: “The referee’s goal call for Leeds United was checked and confirmed by VAR. It was deemed that there was no handball foul by Bogle during the build-up.”
The draw leaves Rosenior’s side in fifth place in the Premier League, one point behind Manchester United. Asked how his team missed out on an important win, the Chelsea manager added: “There were two important moments in the game and we didn’t take them into account. We didn’t keep our composure. We didn’t keep our composure.”

“Moises Caicedo was a great player and was top of the list for me. We made some wrong decisions, and in fact the way the play got there as well. We made some wrong decisions in terms of the way we pressed in the moment and we gave away a penalty when, really, I don’t remember Leeds taking the shot or remembering that moment in the game.”
“Some of our football, our possession, our pressing, our energy, was everything I wanted to see. That’s what made it all the more bittersweet to not win the game.”
