Mo Salah has been heavily linked with a Saudi Arabian cash cow, and that seems more likely than ever as his future at Liverpool begins to be called into question.
Mo Salah’s agents have opened talks with Saudi club Al Ittihad after the Liverpool star reportedly gave permission to arrange a lucrative transfer. Salah, 33, has been heavily linked with a move to the Saudi Professional League in recent years, with Al Ittihad in particular making a £150m bid for him in 2023.
Liverpool turned down the interest before fending off interest again last year, convincing Salah to sign a new contract until 2027. But his explosive fall out with Arne Slott earlier this season put his future at Anfield in doubt once again.
Although he stayed on during the winter transfer window, Salah could finally head to the Middle East this summer. According to a report from Futto Mercato, the Egyptian player has told his agent Ramy Abbas Issa to proceed with negotiations.
He added that Salah is much more open to the idea of joining Al Ittihad than he was 12 months ago. The reigning Saudi Arabian champions recently parted ways with Karim Benzema in a controversial transfer, giving them more room in their budget to sign Salah.

Al Ittihad also sold N’Golo Kante in January, but Fabinho’s contract expires in June. Another high earner, Moussa Diaby, has been linked with a return to Europe, where he plays in Salah’s position.
The forward has had his weakest season since moving to Merseyside in 2017, scoring just six goals this season. Salah was furloughed by Liverpool’s squad in December following a bombshell interview in which he said he had “nothing to do” with Slott, who left him out of the starting XI for three games in a row.

Salah told reporters: “It seems like the club threw me under the bus. That’s how I feel. I think it’s clear that someone was trying to put all the blame on me.”
“I got a lot of promises in the summer and I’ve been on the bench for three games so far, so I can’t say they’re keeping their promises. I’ve said many times before that I had a good relationship with the manager and then all of a sudden we don’t have any. I don’t know why, but from my point of view it seems like someone doesn’t want me at the club.”
