Erling Haaland renewed Josep Guardiola’s side’s title hopes as he appeared before a waiting media after his star performance in the closing stages of Manchester City’s 2-1 win over Liverpool at Anfield.
Erling Haaland admits he hasn’t been up to his full potential lately, but warned his Manchester City rivals that he is trying to give him “what everyone deserves and expects.”
Haaland insists there are no excuses for his recent performances, but he came back late against Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday and scored the winning goal in City’s 2-1 win. Haaland also nodded forward, allowing Bernardo Silva to equalize. The comeback on Merseyside gave traveling fans their first home victory since 2003, while also catapulting the Blues into title contention.
Haaland has scored 21 goals in the Premier League this season, four ahead of Brentford’s Igor Thiago in the race for the Golden Boot. However, nine league games have passed since he last scored in an exhibition game.

The Norwegian has done a huge amount of work over the past six months, both for City and for his country, which will be at next summer’s World Cup, but there have been hints that he could. And it wasn’t helped by Omar Marmouche playing against Egypt in the African Cup of Nations during the most congested period of the campaign.
But Haaland, 25, has denied fatigue is the reason for his recent form and is focused on self-improvement, leaving City moving closer to league leaders Arsenal.
“I would say we haven’t scored enough goals since the beginning of the year and we know we need to improve,” he said.
“I know I need to be sharper and better in all of this, and this is something I have to work on. This is what everyone expects and expects, so I have to keep moving forward.”
“I don’t want to talk about why I didn’t play. I don’t think there are any excuses. Fatigue is on my mind because there are so many games.”
“Look at the schedule. It’s not easy. The important thing for me is to stay healthy and stay injury-free. That’s the most important thing. And try to be ready to help the team.”
