Luke Shaw has highlighted the biggest changes interim head coach Michael Carrick has made since replacing Ruben Amorim at Manchester United.
The Red Devils have won four consecutive Premier League games under Carrick, defeating Manchester City, Arsenal, Fulham and most recently Tottenham Hotspur, with the Red Devils’ side being shown live on TNT Sports and Discovery Plus.

And long-serving left-back Shaw pointed to former midfielder Carrick’s familiarity with the club as a key factor.

“He’s made a lot of changes,” Shaw told talkSPORT. “But the biggest thing for me is that he knows the club very well and knows exactly what it takes to win football matches, make everyone happy and enjoy what we’re doing.

“Obviously he’s won a lot when he’s been here as a player, so he understands the club and I think that’s the biggest thing for me. He knows how to get the best out of his players and he really does that.”

There is a new feel-good factor at Old Trafford as Saturday’s win over Spurs keeps Carrick’s side in fourth place and in pole position to qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

“Culture is, of course, very important and how we are as a team on a day-to-day basis, what our mentality is, how we are focused,” Shaw added.

“How we push each other every day, that’s one of the things that Carrick brings and I think everyone is really enjoying it at the moment.

“You can see how important it is not just the starting lineup, but also the players who come off the bench and make an impact.

“When you score a goal celebrating, it’s not just the players on the pitch. The players on the bench are also running around and celebrating. And I think that shows real togetherness.”

Bruno Fernandes, who scored his team’s second goal against Spurs, also reserved his praise for Carrick after Saturday’s win.

“I think Michael came with the right idea of giving the players the freedom to take responsibility for making the necessary decisions on the pitch,” the Portuguese told TNT Sports.

“I think he remembers what I said the last time he was a manager: I think Michael can be a great manager and he’s just shown that.”

“I hope we can help him even more so everyone can see that we are good players. That’s why we are at Man United.”

“I think everyone understands the pressure of playing for this club and everyone knows the expectations around them.
