Tottenham have endured a nightmare season under manager Thomas Frank, but the north London side are now at risk of losing one of their brightest stars to one of their European rivals.
Tottenham manager Thomas Frank has been informed that Luka Vuskovic will not be returning to the club amidst a brilliant season. The defender joined German side Hamburg on loan until the end of the season in the summer.
This season, he has played in 17 games in the Bundesliga, scoring 4 goals. Spurs may have been hoping Vuskovic would return to north London and prepare for first-team action, but it appears he could be set to leave permanently.
Former Tottenham defender Ramon Vega has claimed he is quitting the club due to his lack of first-team experience. He tweeted: “This player is not coming back to Spurs! One of many players who had a chance at Spurs and they made the wrong decision.
“This is an example of the problems Spurs have within their football department! Complete neglect.
“Sure, they will make good money, but there is no football direction within the club. He goes to Bayern, but no wonder I don’t blame him.”

Vega is not the first to suggest Vucsovic could leave Spurs permanently. Former Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic recently appealed to Bayern Munich for a move for the young defender.
“Right now all of Europe is talking about him. FC Bayern needs to do everything (to sign him). I believe the boy has to go to Bayern.”
“He has everything he needs to be one of the best centre-backs. I will be interested to see if Tottenham manage to keep him beyond the summer, because in my opinion he is already ready for the next step to one of the absolute top clubs. And for me, there are only four or five clubs in Europe that do that.”

Vusković, 18, joined Tottenham from Croatian side Hajduk Split in 2023 for £12 million, but due to Brexit rules, he could not make his move official until he turned 18. He then moved on loan to Radomiak in Poland and Westerlo in Belgium.
His contract with Spurs runs until 2030. Currently, Hamburg want to keep him active beyond this summer, but there is a possibility that they will face opposition from their parent team.
Spurs currently have Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Radu Dragusin and Kevin Danso as centre-back options, while young defenders Ashley Phillips and Kota Takai are on loan at Stoke City and Borussia Mönchengladbach respectively.
