Former Sky Sports presenter Kirsty Gallacher has spoken out about the horrific incident in central London last year and called for more action from the authorities.
Former Sky Sports star Kirsty Gallacher has bravely spoken out about the horrific incident in which she was assaulted by a man in London. The 50-year-old woman was walking to her car in the capital when she was kicked by a man.
She reported the incident to the police, but the culprit has not yet been found. And in telling her story, she called for more action by police on violence against women and girls.
“He turned around and kicked me. He really kicked me. It was like kicking a soccer ball,” she told UK Tonight with Sarah Jane Mee.
“That’s why women don’t report these crimes. And that’s why not enough is being done about them.”
On the need for more police support, she added: “My biggest sadness and anger is that there wasn’t enough police presence, and even though we’re in central London, I was looking everywhere to the point where I almost wanted to scream ‘Help me!’

“I would like to see more police presence on the streets (so that women feel safe). I also want the police to take seriously when a woman complains that she has just been assaulted, even if it is a minor assault.”
In response, a Metropolitan Police Department spokesperson said: “We are committed to tackling all forms of violence against women and girls.”
“Officers spoke with the victim in this case on several occasions and shared updates as the investigation progressed,” they added.
“Our last contact with them was at the end of December when we were informed that the investigation had been filed but would be resumed once the suspect was identified. Images of the suspect are still being circulated across the metropolitan area.
“The investigation is closed at this time, but if new information comes to light it will be investigated.”
