Josep Guardiola’s future at Manchester City remains uncertain, with Liverpool icon Jamie Carragher speaking out about rumors he could leave the club at the end of the season.
Jamie Carragher has hailed Pep Guardiola as the greatest football manager of all time as he prepares for his ‘last dance’ with Manchester City. The Spanish manager has enjoyed a stellar spell at the Etihad Stadium since taking over in 2016.
Guardiola won six Premier League titles, two Champions Leagues, two FA Cups and three League Cups. However, there is speculation that he may only have a few months left at City.
And delivering his verdict on Guardiola’s future, former Liverpool star Carragher believes he could indeed leave. He also suggested that Guardiola will leave his position with his reputation as the greatest manager in football history intact.
“Pep Guardiola is the greatest football manager of all time and we should cherish every second of his Premier League career. We feel like we are watching Guardiola’s last dance in England,” Carragher said in a column for the Telegraph.

“Succession plans are in place and his club’s recent transfer activity has given rise to more clues pointing to the idea that he will end his reign at Manchester City at the end of this season, with his club doing everything in their power to ensure he leaves with another trophy in hand.
“If an announcement is imminent by May, Guardiola’s unique contribution to raising standards in the Premier League should and will be recognized. He is No. 1.”
“Some managers become legends by winning, but others leave their mark by changing and improving the game. Guardiola ticked all the boxes and by winning trophies his legacy extends far beyond the clubs he has managed.

“The titles Guardiola won with Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Manchester City are just one aspect of his career. His far-reaching influence sets him apart from other players.”
Guardiola, 55, has a contract with City until 2027, but he has just extended his contract to 2024. If he does leave the Etihad this season, there is a good chance he could end his spell with another silver medal.
City will advance to the Carabao Cup final where they will face Arsenal. Guardiola’s side also face the Gunners for the Premier League title and are six points behind their rivals in the table heading into this weekend’s clash with Liverpool.
Meanwhile, Arsenal face surprise package Sunderland at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
