Former Manchester United star Jesse Lingard is currently a free agent after spending almost two years in the K-League and being released by South Korean club Seoul.
Free agent Jesse Lingard has emerged as a target for Feyenoord, who are managed by former teammate Robin van Persie. Lingard, 33, is looking for his next club after being released by South Korean club Seoul in December when his contract expired.
The former Manchester United star spent nearly two years in the K League, making 67 appearances for Seoul and scoring 19 goals and providing 10 assists. Lingard is now moving on to new pastures.
During the January transfer window, the England international, who made 32 appearances, held talks with several clubs in England and Italy. However, Dutch powerhouse Feyenoord entered the game after suffering a fatal injury.
According to the newspaper, Van Persie is keen to reunite with Lingard. This comes after Feyenoord’s youngster and Van Persie’s son Shaquille suffered what appeared to be a serious injury a week ago.

“I’m not feeling well,” Van Persie admitted after Feyenoord’s 2-1 defeat away to Real Betis in the Europa League. “The tests will have to point out how he’s doing, but the initial signs don’t look good.
“When you go down with an injury, any player shuts down and that’s exactly what happened today with Shaquille. You hope for the best, but when you hear the first sign that it’s not going to be that way, it’s heartbreaking.”
“I’m the coach, but I’m also his father, and I think this is terrible. It’s both. It’s heartbreaking that he’s going through this.”

Around 2014, while Van Persie was finishing up his career at Old Trafford, Lingard was breaking into United’s first team. Although the pair never played together in a competitive match, they trained together and were able to meet again in Rotterdam more than a decade later.
The paper added that Lingard hopes to decide on his next club by the end of next week. The midfielder most recently played in Europe for Nottingham Forest in the 2022-23 season.
Forest became Lingard’s first permanent club after he was released by United and was not offered a new contract. In 2021, he had a memorable loan spell with West Ham, who have also been linked with a move.
Mr Lingard, who has returned to his hometown of Warrington, recently told the Guardian he was “open” to different countries about his next move. “Europe, Saudi Arabia, UAE,” he pointed out.
