Chelsea manager Liam Rossenia has explained why he was so frustrated after he was spotted fuming in a fit of anger just before his side lost to Arsenal in the Carabao Cup.
Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior accused Arsenal staff of a “lack of respect” after explaining his pre-match abuse. The former Strasbourg head coach slammed members of the Gunners’ backroom team who were in his half of the pitch during the warm-up before the Carabao Cup clash between the two sides.
Asked about his anger, Rosenior claimed he had nothing to do with the Arsenal players and was annoyed by the coaches who had invaded Chelsea’s pitch.
“It wasn’t the players,” Rosenior said in a pre-game press conference ahead of this weekend’s game against Wolves. “When we warm up, we have our territory and the other team has our territory. I have never asked my team or our coaches to invade the opponent’s territory.”
“I thought they were influencing our warm-up. It may not be polite, but I asked them to leave. I don’t have any problems with anyone at Arsenal Football Club. It was just that moment. I don’t think my team was shown any respect.”

Chelsea ended up being eliminated at the Emirates with a late goal from former Blues striker Kai Havertz, giving Rosenior’s side a 4-2 aggregate defeat.
Chelsea’s performance was widely criticized, with Paul Merson particularly harshly criticized. Rosenior added: “The noise is not a surprise to me at all, it’s in this area.
“It doesn’t matter to me what other teams do. What people think about how my team played has no bearing on my decision-making. We didn’t have success, so there’s always things we could have done differently. But that was a very solid performance and the game could have easily gone our way.”

Chelsea will now turn their attention to this weekend’s clash with bottom-of-the-table Wolves at Molineux. A win could see Chelsea return to the top four.
When asked about his team’s next game, Rosenior added: “We are preparing exactly the same way. I watched Rob’s team recently. They performed very well against Bournemouth, but it was disappointing that we couldn’t get anything out of the game. We want to see the consistency of this group in every game we play. This is another important game of our season.”
