Harry Kane will lead England’s attack this summer, but there are doubts as to who will replace the captain, with Ivan Toney believing his goalscoring exploits in Saudi Arabia could earn him a spot in the Three Lions squad.
Ivan Toney is prepared to turn down goal-scoring Juventus in the Saudi Professional League as he is desperate to play for England at this summer’s World Cup.
Juve manager Luciano Spalletti wants to bring in a striker before tomorrow’s transfer deadline to help the Italian giants continue their run of eight wins in 11 games in all competitions. Spalletti is keeping an eye on the 29-year-old, especially as Spurs are unwilling to allow France international forward Randal Kolo Muani to leave north London.
But Al Ahly striker Tony has goals of his own and has set his sights on Thomas Tuchel’s England squad since Germany included him in their World Cup plans last year.

Toney, who is the SPL’s top scorer with 18 goals, said: “I feel good right now and if I keep scoring goals (here in Saudi Arabia) my chances of playing in probably my only World Cup will get even stronger.”
“Harry Kane is the best finisher in football. His numbers are extraordinary. I think he has scored more goals than games he has played.”
“For me, it’s not easy to score goals in this league. It’s not easy. It’s difficult. The team I’m in gives me a chance.”

“We have some good players who enjoy assisting and thankfully for them they have strikers who love to score and want to score more.”
Tony scored a hat-trick for Al Ahly last week. His 18 goals are two more than Cristiano Ronaldo, who ranks third in the Saudi scoring list.
