Cole Palmer has had a dramatic week off the pitch due to rumors with Manchester United, with Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior speaking out about the playmaker amid rumors of his departure.
Liam Rosenior has praised Cole Palmer’s “fantastic” move after rumors that he could join Manchester United were quashed by the Chelsea manager. It was suggested earlier this week that the England star had been unstable at Stamford Bridge, just two-and-a-half years after signing for the club from Manchester City.
It has also been suggested that he would be open to a move to Old Trafford. Although Palmer himself has yet to speak out, Blues manager Rosenior has continued to praise Palmer’s attitude in recent weeks.
Asked why Palmer was left as a substitute against Napoli, the former Strasbourg manager said: “I think it’s a combination of both. There was no way Cole started this game and played until the 60th, 70th, 80th minute. So we knew Napoli were going through a difficult period with injuries.”
“I felt we were going to be stronger in the second half of the game and I thought Cole’s performance was great. Not just his quality, his pressing, his running for the team. We need to take care of him. He’s played so many games over a long period of time. He’s been playing really well.”

“We need to look after him and I think the way he’s taken care of himself over the last two weeks has been great and now that he’s fully healthy we hope we can see the best of him. We need to see him absolutely enjoying nights like this on big occasions.”
“He’s a world-class player,” Rosenior added. “There was a lot of talk about Cole, but he seemed like a very, very happy guy in the locker room after the game.”
Rosenior’s comments came after he categorically denied there was any chance of selling Palmer in the near future. Speaking ahead of Chelsea’s visit to Napoli, he said: “There’s no reason to guarantee it. It’s so unrealistic. It came from nowhere. There’s nothing. There’s no reason to have a conversation. That’s my position.”

“Cole is very happy. I’ve talked to him a lot. What we’re thinking about is how can we make this team better, how can he improve and how can I help him.”
“He loves being here and he wants to be a Chelsea player. You can’t stop speculation, but some speculation is far from the truth. There’s no point in discussing it.”
Palmer signed for Chelsea in 2023 for £40 million and went on to make 111 appearances for the club, scoring 48 goals. He just signed a new contract extension in 2024, which will keep him locked in until 2033.
