Paul Pogba could soon face further career disruption amid claims Monaco are considering whether the former Manchester United midfielder has a future at the club.

Pogba, 32, was a free agent before joining the Ligue 1 side in the summer after serving an 18-month ban for doping. He signed a two-year contract, but his time at Monaco was far from fruitful, with injuries limiting him to a total of just 30 minutes in three games.

Pogba’s time at Monaco could be cut short after he failed to make a big impact at his new club, according to Italian newspaper Gazzetta, with team chief executive Thiago Scurro hinting that Pogba’s stay at the club could be cut short, saying he may need to hold talks with the player if the situation does not improve.

Pogba is currently sidelined after sustaining a calf injury during training last month. Initially described as “minor,” the issue forced him to miss seven games.

As a result, Pogba will miss out on Wednesday night’s Champions League match against Monaco, missing out on a chance to get a win against his former club Juventus, who he criticized for abandoning him following a doping ban.

Following Pogba’s latest setback, the club’s head coach Sebastian Pocognoli said: “It’s already great for him to come back from where he was and play again.

“But right now I can’t think about the future. He’s doing his job and we’re there to support him. I understand the worry, but I can’t worry about that. I’m managing the team and Paul is part of what I want to put in place as soon as I’m ready to help the team.”

After Monaco face Juventus, they face Rennes in the league and Strasbourg in the round of 16 of the French Cup, but it remains to be seen when Pogba will return.

He was a free agent for seven and a half months before agreeing to sign with Monaco.
