Trent Alexander-Arnold only left Liverpool last summer, but speculation over his future at Real Madrid has been rife in recent days following claims he is not in the manager’s plans.
Less than 12 months after his high-profile exit from Liverpool, Trent Alexander-Arnold’s future is once again the subject of heated debate, with conflicting claims over his place at Real Madrid.
The 27-year-old England star has been chased by the Spanish giants for months as his contract at Anfield expires. And last June, football’s worst kept secret was finally officially revealed when Los Blancos paid £10m to sign him before he became a free agent so he could represent him at the Club World Cup.
Unfortunately, things didn’t go perfectly for Alexander-Arnold and Real Madrid. In the first half of the season, he struggled to secure a regular starting position under Xabi Alonso, and since December he has not featured at all due to injury.

It was reported last week that Alexander-Arnold was told he was not in the plans of new Real manager Alvaro Arbeloa after the former Liverpool right-back was appointed to take charge following Alonso’s departure earlier this month.
But then there were reports that this was not the case and that the club maintained their faith in Alexander-Arnold.
Such speculation has led to talk that Liverpool’s academy graduate could aim to return to Merseyside sooner rather than later, and if so, he would be welcomed back.
Mohamed Salah was one of Liverpool’s star players and showed his support for Alexander-Arnold when he made the move to Madrid. The Liverpool talisman responded to an Instagram post of Alexander-Arnold in his new kit with the caption: “Family is everything” with two red hearts.
Alexander-Arnold, who communicated telepathically with Salah on the right flank for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, returned the favor to a post from the Egyptian by sharing a post outlining his outrageous stats after his bombshell interview with Arne Slott earlier this season. Alexander-Arnold commented on the goat emoji and revealed his thoughts on Salah.
Talk of a return to Liverpool may be romantic, but Alexander-Arnold will be focused on earning a regular spot in Arbeloa’s squad as he nears a return to fitness, although it remains to be seen whether he will return for Wednesday night’s Champions League game against Benfica.
