Manchester United star Harry Maguire’s contract expires at the end of the season, leaving Red Devils bosses in a dilemma over whether to offer him an extension at Old Trafford.
Harry Maguire’s agent has held talks with Italian and Turkish clubs as his contract expires. The England defender believes his current contract with Manchester United expires at the end of this season.
He is free to negotiate with foreign clubs regarding the transfer of Bosman this month. And while no final decision has yet been made on the 32-year-old’s future, his agent is said to be considering a number of options should he end his time at Old Trafford.
According to The Athletic, clubs in Türkiye and Italy are in contact with Maguire’s agent. It remains to be seen whether Maguire is interested in moving abroad, as negotiations do not appear to have progressed beyond initial inquiries.
It details that the defender is happy where he is and that his immediate aim is to get the club back into the Champions League. And that could increase his chances of getting a new contract.

A return to Europe’s top table would significantly increase the club’s income stream, giving them further scope to renew Maguire’s contract, one of the club’s most lucrative.
Further, it has been suggested that the offer of a new contract is likely to ultimately come down to a matter of amount and length of the contract offered. Finances are not the only consideration for Red Devils bosses when it comes to potentially retaining Maguire.
Strengthening the club’s midfield is a priority for the club in the upcoming summer transfer window, but they are also looking for a defensive leader and Maguire could fit the bill. Michael Carrick also appears to be a big fan of the defender, starting in both of his opening two wins against Manchester City and Arsenal.
Maguire also appears to be enjoying life under the former midfielder. Speaking after the win against Arsenal, he said: “Michael (Carrick) came in and did a great job for us and brought fresh energy. The group has really revitalized. It was a tough couple of games. Everyone probably thought we didn’t have a lot of points, but it was great to win both.”

Maguire has made 258 appearances for Man United since signing for £80m from Leicester City in 2019. West Ham had previously agreed to sign Maguire in 2023, but that move fell through.
The defender previously spoke about his future in the summer. “Over the next few months they will be talking and talking about where they want to go and whether they want to extend it,” he said.
“I have an idea in my head of what I want to do and what I want to be. It’s a great club to play for and it would be foolish to want to jump out of there as soon as possible.”
