Manchester United will pay a price this summer if they do not want to lose Bruno Fernandes to another club, as the Red Devils captain seeks confirmation of the club’s next manager.
Manchester United will have to spend big to keep Bruno Fernandes at Old Trafford this summer. Fernandes is considering his future at Old Trafford and is likely to be flooded with offers from other clubs at the end of the season.
The Portuguese midfielder is disillusioned with the way the club is being run and the change of manager. He came close to leaving United last summer, but rejected the chance to join the Saudi Professional League.
The United captain will wait until the end of the season to decide on his next move. Fernandes has been impressed with the impact Michael Carrick has had as interim manager, but is keen to know who the next permanent manager will be.
The 31-year-old knows his next contract will be the last big contract of his career and he needs to make money. I also know that United’s leaders are desperate for him not to leave.

United would have a better chance of retaining Fernandes if they were able to offer him Champions League football. However, club leaders will still need to offer Fernandes a contract worth around £400,000-a-week, making him their highest-paid player.
This is a significant increase over the current contract, which runs until 2027 and has a 12-month extension option.
Fernandes knows his value to United and wants to make the most of it. It remains to be seen whether United intend to award such a contract to a player in his 30s.
He won’t be touting his value once his new contract ends.
However, with Casemiro set to leave in the summer, United will have more financial flexibility by releasing someone on a £400,000-a-week wage.
Fernandes has won just two domestic trophies since joining United in 2020, so he needs to know he is at a club where he can realize his ambitions.
