Jamie Carragher and his mother’s moment went viral on social media following Wednesday night’s action-packed coverage of the Champions League
Jamie Carragher and his mother shared a healthy phone conversation during CBS Sports’ coverage of Wednesday night’s Champions League match. The moment came after Liverpool cemented their hopes of progressing to the finals with a comfortable 3-0 away win over Marseille.
The win puts Arne Slott’s side in fourth place in the league, putting them in a good position to advance straight to the last 16. In next week’s final match, Liverpool will face Qarabag at Anfield.
After Dominik Szoboszlai scored the opening goal in first-half stoppage time, Geronimo Rulli’s own goal gave them some leeway. It was a perfect night as Kodi Gakpo scored his first goal in four games in the closing stages of the game against France.

Appearing on the traditional Champions League show panel with Micah Richards, Thierry Henry and presenter Kate Scott, Carragher spoke about his former team’s overwhelming victory before revealing he had received a text message from his mother Paula.
“Oh my God, what a victory,” the text read. “I went to the theater with Angela. We just looked at the score. It’s a hoax,” Richards replied in a text message, before claiming Carragher called her mother on live TV.
Paula answered the phone and said she had just gone to see a play. When Mr Carragher told her he was appearing live on American television, she replied: “You’re kidding!”
Mr Richards often exchanged jokes with Mr Carragher, which went viral on social media, before picking up the phone to say hello, introducing himself as “Big Meeks” and asking if he knew who he was.

“Oh, please run, I’m embarrassed,” she replied, laughing. After Carragher told his mother who he was with, Arsenal legend Henry spoke up: “Hello mum, how are you?”
Paula is then heard calling the French man “Tiary” and the studio erupts in laughter. Mr Carragher’s mother later admitted that they had enjoyed a few drinks during a night out, apologized and said goodbye.
She concluded by saying, “Goodnight, America.” The incident went viral among fans on social media, with one person posting: “Jamie Carragher’s mother is right!”
Another added: “Legendary Paula”, while one person commented: “I’m pissed at Tiary! How lovely!” A fourth said: “That spontaneous segment made my day,” while another added: “This might be one of the healthiest moments in live TV history.”
