Manchester United may have picked up a valuable win against Manchester City recently, but there are still plenty of concerns among the fanbase
Manchester United supporters group The 1958 have confirmed another demonstration against the Glazer family, with Sir Jim Ratcliffe set to take part in their next home game against Fulham. They warned that more than 6,000 disgruntled supporters were expected to attend.
Michael Carrick’s side head to the Emirates Stadium this weekend to take on Premier League leaders Arsenal. However, in the subsequent home game against the Cottage, fans will protest against the Glazers and Ratcliffe, the minority owner who has been in control of the club’s football operations.
The Glazers have faced criticism from United supporters since their takeover in 2005, but dissatisfaction with Ratcliffe has increased following his £1.6bn purchase of a 27.7% stake in the club. As anger continued to spread throughout the fan base, 1958 confirmed further action against the United organization.

A spokesperson for 1958 said, “21 years of mounting debt, mismanagement, and greed for money have been too long. Enough is enough.”
They continued, “We are not accomplices. Jim Ratcliffe, you chose your side, and it is not ours. You now stand shoulder to shoulder with the Glazers.”

“To many, you will appear as a clown hopelessly climbing out of the depths, groping through one disaster after another in one of the world’s best football facilities, revered by millions. We were promised to be a best-in-class club, but to us the club has become a circus-like farce, and that includes the design of the new stadium.”
The group elaborated on why it chose to take action, adding: “Earlier this season we asked supporters if they wanted to protest. Many chose to give Ratcliffe his time.”
“That time has been wasted. The situation is definitely getting worse. We beat City, but one swallow can’t make a summer. This is not about Carrick or the result. It’s about our ownership.”
“We have been down this path of false hope many times. History has shown us what is happening at our clubs with dysfunctional ownership models. They are like boomerangs and we can’t move on until they’re gone.”
The group also hinted that it expected “far more than the estimated 5,000 to 6,000 people who marched peacefully against Arsenal last May”, describing it as “the largest ever protest against Manchester United’s owners, and the first ever officially directed at Sir Jim Ratcliffe”.
United’s recent win against City has lifted the Reds into fifth place. Depending on how England perform in this season’s European competitions, this position could be enough to qualify for the Champions League.
Ratcliffe backed Ruben Amorim in March last year, but sacked him in early 2026 after the former Sporting Lisbon manager criticized the board in his final press conference.
Following the sacking of Ten Hag and the Portuguese manager, the club is looking for a third permanent manager. Although Carrick has made a promising start, his tenure is expected to only last until the end of the season.
