Amid hysteria over Beckham family rift, talkSport host downplays interaction with David Beckham before being criticized on social media
TalkSPORT presenter Shevern Ahern has apologized after being accused of “objectifying” David Beckham in light of a family feud that targeted Brooklyn Beckham’s parents.
Matters within the family reached a boiling point on Monday night when he posted a lengthy statement on Instagram. He accused his parents of “endlessly trying to destroy” his marriage to Nicola Peltz and of “valuing public promotion above all else”.
But the talkSPORT presenter noticed an interesting side as she recalled her interaction with the England and Manchester United icon, interviewing him and recalling the time Beckham touched her arm.
She wrote: “My own #Beckham story. A few years ago I interviewed him on @talkSPORT Drive… He put his hand on my arm and told me to ask him again. I sniffed his arm a few times on the train home. #BrooklynBeckham.”
However, her witty remarks did not go as planned, with some on social media taking to her comments section to accuse her of “objectifying” the former Real Madrid player, which led to a U-turn.

She wrote, “I apologize for any offense this may have caused. It was a lighthearted joke. I did not come here to offend anyone or objectify men. My sincere and sincere apologies. X.”
Brooklyn has been estranged from his family for some time. Although he did not attend his father’s 50th birthday, rumors continue to fly as to why father and son had a falling out. The Inter Miami co-owner has been interviewed since Brooklyn’s comments, and although he did not comment directly, he insisted that kids make mistakes.
He was interviewed on CNBC’s financial show Squawk Box and said, “I’ve always talked about social media and the power of social media…both good and bad. What kids have access to these days can be dangerous. But what I’ve personally found, especially with my kids, is use it for the right reasons.”
“I’ve been able to use my platform to benefit my followers and UNICEF, and it’s been the biggest tool to let people know what’s going on for children around the world. And I’ve tried to do the same and educate my own children.
“They make mistakes, but kids are allowed to make mistakes. That’s how kids learn. That’s what I try to teach kids, and sometimes you have to let kids make mistakes too.”
