The club said on Thursday: “Casemiro will leave United at the end of the season due to the expiration of his contract.
“We would like to thank serial winner Case for his contribution to the Reds so far and wish him the best of both worlds for his time at the club.”
According to Sky Sports, United had the option of activating a 12-month extension at the end of the season, but Casemiro’s last home game will be against Nottingham Forest in May.
Fans will be encouraged to show their appreciation for the departing midfielder during the penultimate round of Premier League matches.
Casemiro told the club’s official website: “I plan to carry Manchester United for the rest of my life.
“From the first day I left this beautiful stadium, I felt the passion of Old Trafford and the love that our supporters share for this special club.
“This is not the time to say goodbye, we have many more memories to make over the next four months.
“We still have a lot of work to do together and, as always, I remain fully focused on doing everything I can to help the club succeed.”

‘Very well finished’ – Casemiro puts United ahead with Maguire’s ‘fantastic’ skill

Casemiro, signed for £70m from Real Madrid, played a key role in United’s limited success during his time at Old Trafford.
But the 2024/25 campaign was even more eventful. New manager Ruben Amorim’s struggles are often attributed to his insistence on a 3-4-3 system with Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes at the heart of midfield, which has drawn criticism amid poor results.
Casemiro, now in his 30s, came under indirect scrutiny during last season when new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe said certain players were “not good enough” and “paid too high,” although he did not name the players.

The appointment of Michael Carrick as head coach, alongside Casemiro, signals a shift for the future, as was underlined by Koby Mainu’s first start in the Premier League in last Saturday’s win over Manchester City.
In those circumstances, and with Casemiro being one of the club’s highest-paid players, it is likely that he will leave ahead of the World Cup in America, bringing his career at Old Trafford to an end.
United are determined to revamp their midfield this summer, with Brighton’s Carlos Baleva, Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson and Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton linked with signings.
