Thomas Frank speaks out about Tottenham’s future after facing sacking | Soccer | Sports

Thomas Frank has vowed to continue fighting as Tottenham manager despite increasing pressure on his position. Frank’s future is in jeopardy as Tuesday’s Champions League game against Borussia Dortmund could be his last. Spurs bosses are considering a change in manager after winning just one of their last eight games, but supporters are growing frustrated with their embattled manager.

However, ahead of the match against Dortmund, Frank said: “I think we should fight even when our backs are against the wall. And that’s my job. I’ll fight with energy. And again, that’s not my problem. We need to win football matches. And we need to win football matches together. That’s what it’s all about.” The Danish manager has come under increasing scrutiny and Saturday’s home defeat to West Ham appeared to seal his fate.

Spurs are facing a devastating injury crisis, with 13 notable players unavailable for the match against Dortmund, while their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League remain in jeopardy.

Joao Parinha is the latest victim on the treatment table, while Micky van de Ven’s suspension has added to Tottenham’s difficulties ahead of their clash with Dortmund, who sit second behind Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga.

However, Frank remained defiant, claiming that his fighting spirit showed he was not surrendering and that he believed he could reverse the club’s fortunes.

Frank said: “I think preparing for the fight means waking up early every morning, getting ready, every time you step on the pitch, pushing the staff, pushing the players, making demands, having a lot of little conversations, meetings, pushing everything, doing everything you can to make sure everything is ready.

“I think that’s part of it, and being ready to fight means you keep fighting. When things get tough, you don’t feel sorry for yourself. You look at the bigger picture and do the best you can.

“As long as I protect the players and everyone supports them, including the fans and journalists, I am happy to take on all the responsibility.

“I just keep doing what I’m doing. I have no doubt that it’s the right thing to do and I have no doubt that it will turn around, but of course we need to win more football games.”
