Marc Guehy traveled to the North West to complete his £20m move from Crystal Palace to Manchester City, but there was some drama on the way to his new home.
Marc Gehi’s private jet was forced to abort its original landing after flying the defender to Manchester. The England star is on the verge of a move to Manchester City, with Palace accepting a bid of £20m for him.
Guehi was left out of the Eagles’ squad that lost 2-1 to Sunderland on Saturday and will undergo a medical on Sunday. However, everything wasn’t easy for him as he flew to Manchester to complete the formalities.
Guehi flew from London on a private jet on Sunday morning, but the plane abandoned the landing before landing in Manchester. Airplane monitors suggested that a large jet had entered the runway, forcing the plane carrying Guehi to climb up and circle around the city, including over the Etihad Stadium.
The jet eventually landed safely and Guehi was taken away to complete the final details of the move. The player is expected to sign a five-and-a-half year contract with City, with his contract expiring in the summer, forcing Palace to sell him.
Guehi was close to joining Liverpool last year, but the deal fell through at the 11th hour. If all goes as expected, he will be City’s second major signing, following the signing of Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth.

His departure comes at a difficult time for Palace, with manager Oliver Glasner confirming that he too will leave at the end of the season. The Austrian also slammed the club’s leadership for the decision to allow Guehi to leave.
“We feel completely abandoned. Selling the captain the day before the game is incomprehensible,” he said.
“We are preparing and we were told yesterday (Friday) that our captain is being sold, so why isn’t he released next week? At least he will be available for this game and the other players will be back next week. It’s really upsetting.”

“If your heart is torn out twice a year, the day before the summer game it’s (Eberechi) Eze and the day before the game it’s the captain – I just don’t understand it.
“Yesterday at 10:30 a.m., I first learned that Mark was being sold,” Glassner added. “I think the negotiations lasted several days, so no one called at 10am and by 10:30am everything was agreed.
“Then we have to deal with it. You have to come to Sunderland the day before the game when you know we are not in our best form. We are aware of the situation where we are without players and we are going to sell our captain.”
“No team would do something like this. On other teams, players play and the next day they’re gone, and we sell them the day before?”
