Chelsea are reportedly monitoring French star Jeremy Jacquet ahead of a potential transfer. The Blues have already secured one big job this month, bringing in Liam Rosenior to replace the departed Enzo Maresca.

Now the owners of Bruco, where Rosenior worked at his former club Strasbourg, appear ready to put their hands in their pockets to approve new signings in January. He is also a player that Coach Rossenyol has likely watched up close and personal since his days in the French First Division.

However, he is unlikely to come cheap, given Stade Renne’s determination to stick to the club’s record-breaking sale in 2023, surpassing the £55.5m paid by Manchester City for Jeremy Doku. Therefore, according to French media, Renne wants to command a transfer fee in excess of £65 million, with Bayern Munich also rumored to be interested.

Across all competitions, the 20-year-old has made 18 appearances for Renne, 17 of which were in Ligue 1. The central defender, who has been called up to the France U-21 national team, has more than three years left on his current contract, so Renne is highly rated.

Apart from potential new recruits, one of the main pieces of business for Rosenior to sort out is the future of Raheem Sterling, who was ousted under the previous owners. As for the Englishman’s future, he explained: “I will talk to them. As you know, we are in January. Raheem has had a great career. I have a lot of respect for him. Axel (Disasi) is a player that I really, really liked as a player.”

“To be honest, we have to talk to them. We have to talk to the club. I’ll be completely honest. We literally have to work on our priority list and we’ll do that in the next few days.”

He added: “The first conversation I had with the players (club hierarchy) was that the players here are the ones we want to evaluate the most important players. Usually when you give people a chance you get a good surprise. We had a really, really good surprise against Charlton. “Yes, it’s January and yes, we want the club to be as successful as possible in the short term.”
