Michael Carrick is facing a turbulent first month as Manchester United’s interim head coach. Not only will he have to get used to the team he takes over from Ruben Amorim, but he will also have to deal with the comings and goings of potential players during the hectic January transfer window.
Despite the club’s intention to remain with their current side this month, speculation continues to swirl about a possible transfer involving the Red Devils. Carrick’s main aim is to guide United towards an optimal finish in the Premier League this season, but there are also issues that need to be addressed to avoid future pitfalls.
We bring you all the latest transfer news regarding United.
Bruno decides to leave
Club captain Bruno Fernandes has reportedly not asked to leave United this month. The Portuguese star has recently been linked with several Saudi clubs including Al Ittihad, Al Nasr and Al Hilal.
Some have suggested that Fernandes may be considering his future at United following Amorim’s sacking.
The midfielder was spotted meeting Carlos Fernandes, a member of Amorim’s former coaching staff, sparking fears he could be considering a move away from Old Trafford.
However, according to the latest report from BBC Sport, Fernandes will remain focused on his responsibilities at United for the remainder of the season.
He is thought to assess his future in the summer as he enters the final 12 months of his contract at Old Trafford.

The transfer is given the go-ahead
According to Sky Sports, Juventus have received the ‘green light’ from manager Luciano Spalletti to sign the Crystal Palace striker, with United reportedly targeting Jean-Philippe Mateta.
The Italian giants are reportedly looking for a long-term replacement for Dusan Vlahovic, whose current contract expires this summer.
United are thought to maintain continued interest in Mateta, who has scored eight goals in 21 Premier League appearances for Palace this season.
If Juventus intensify their negotiations for Mateta, other suitors could accelerate their pursuit of him.
As a result, United could end up being forced to join the hunt for the striker or risk missing out on securing a spot at Old Trafford.
United currently have several attacking options, with Benjamin Sesco leading the attack and Matheus Cunha supporting them.
The latter also functions as a number nine, but this season he has been moved to an attacking midfield position.
According to reports, Palace are expected to ask for around £30m as a sanction for Mateta’s departure this month, although this valuation could rise depending on the level of interest.
