Conor Bradley suffered a season-ending injury during Liverpool’s draw with Arsenal last week, but the defender gave an update on his progress on social media.
Conor Bradley admits his latest injury was a “huge blow” but says “the comeback is about to begin” as the Liverpool star looks to recover from yet another injury after being stretchered off against Arsenal.
The Northern Irishman made a big impression every time he took to the pitch, but since making his debut for the Reds he has been out for a long period due to injury. He now has another long game ahead of him.
His injury occurred in strange circumstances as he attempted to clear the ball as the clock was winding down. It is now confirmed that Bradley suffered a serious knee injury and immediately collapsed. He will undergo surgery and will miss the remainder of the Premier League season.
It also means the defender will miss Northern Ireland’s World Cup play-off match against Italy in March, but it is unclear whether he will be fit for this summer’s World Cup if Michael O’Neill’s side progress through the play-offs.
Bradley issued a defiant statement on social media, writing: “It’s been a huge blow, but now that the surgery is over, my return begins. It won’t be long, but I can’t wait to get back to playing @liverpoolfc and @northernireland. Thank you for all your support.”

Many of his Liverpool team-mates sent messages of support. Andy Robertson said: “The comeback is about to begin, mate,” while Ibrahima Konate echoed the sentiment: “You’re going to come back stronger, bro.”
Liverpool confirmed there is still “no deadline set” for the 22-year-old’s return. Bradley played in 21 games this season, but also missed a number of games with a hamstring issue. It is understood that the Reds have no plans to attack the transfer window to find a replacement, even if Bradley is unavailable for Arne Slott.
The circumstances surrounding Bradley’s injury at the Emirates led to heavy criticism of Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli, who attempted to shove his opponent off the pitch while he was undergoing treatment. Manager Gary Neville declared the Brazilian’s actions “disgraceful” and the player later apologized.
He said on social media: “Conor and I have messaged each other and have already apologized to him. We really didn’t understand that he had been seriously injured in the heat. I would like to sincerely apologize for the way I reacted. I will once again do everything in my power to help Conor make a speedy recovery.”
Despite the outrage, the Arsenal ace received no further punishment from the Football Association and the matter is deemed to have been dealt with, as referee Anthony Taylor ruled at the time.
