The statement said there was no set deadline for the player’s return, but Slott later revealed in his pre-match press conference that the 26-year-old would be sidelined for two months.
“Most of the injuries we have are not related to overload,” Slott said Tuesday.
“If you look at Alex’s injury, it has nothing to do with overloading the player. It’s the same with Wataru Endo.
“Of course, there are one or two things that could have to do with overload. Kodi Gakpo has muscle and the same goes for Joe Gomez.
“Yes,[Issac’s injury]was a reckless challenge. I’ve said it many times about Xavi Simmons’ tackle[on Virgil van Dijk]but it was completely unintentional for me. I don’t think I would ever get injured in a tackle like that.”
“But (Mickey) van de Ven’s tackle, if you make 10, 10 tackles like that, a player can get seriously injured.
“It’s going to be a long injury. Several months. It’s very, very, very unfortunate for him and for us.”

The Reds manager also gave an update on Conor Bradley and Gakpo, who could feature on Saturday, but Gomez and Endo are both ruled out.
He explained: “It’s going to be 50-50 for Conor Bradley. He hasn’t trained with us today or tomorrow. We’ll find out on Friday where exactly he is and whether he’ll be in the squad for the weekend.”
“Joe Gomez and Wataru Endo are unavailable and Kodi Gakpo looks like Conor.”
Meanwhile, Jeremy Frimpong’s start at Anfield was also marred by injury. Slott will be hoping the 25-year-old has turned a corner since coming off the bench against Spurs last weekend.
“I was out for quite some time, so my maximum playing time over the weekend was 30 minutes,” Slott added.
“He could start this weekend if I decide to do so. Circumstances can change and you have to take more risks than you normally would if everyone was available.
“Everyone needs to roll up their sleeves to give us the best chance of a good result in the next two games.”
After Saturday’s match against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Slott’s side will start 2026 on New Year’s Day at home to Leeds United.
A trip to Craven Cottage continues on January 4, ahead of a mouth-watering away clash against Arsenal on January 8.
Slott’s team will be hoping to establish themselves in the top four in the coming weeks and are currently fifth in the table going into the weekend.
