Salah told reporters he felt like he had been “thrown under the bus” by Liverpool and that his relationship with head coach Arne Slott had also fallen apart.
“Mo is his own man and can speak for himself,” Jones told Sky Sports ahead of Saturday night’s visit against Tottenham Hotspur.
“He apologized to us and said, ‘I’m sorry if I influenced or offended anyone.’ That’s the man he is.”

The midfielder added: “I can only speak from someone who knows Mo, what his relationship with us is and how he has acted in response.
“He was positive too. He was the exact same Mo. He had a big smile on his face and everyone was the exact same to him.”
“I think it’s part of just wanting to be a winner. I don’t think he’ll be the last.”
Slott said this week that Liverpool had “moved on” from the issue, and the manager and Salah reportedly had positive talks before the game against Brighton.
Jones added: “I understand that things have to be done a certain way, but if a player just wants to be on the bench and doesn’t want to play and help the team, I think that’s more of a problem.”
“When there’s been any anger from us, including myself, it’s always come from a good place.
“It may not have manifested itself in the right way at the moment, but it has never affected the team, the staff, the manager, people like that.
“We’ve gotten through it now and are starting to work well together as a team, play well and win games.”
