Slott reveals plans to have ‘conversations’ with Salah ahead of Brighton game

Various media outlets are now reporting that Salah will rejoin Liverpool’s squad for Saturday’s match against the Seagulls at Anfield.
Salah scored 29 goals and provided 18 assists in the Premier League last season as Liverpool won the title in his first season in the slot.
This form has seen the 33-year-old earn a new two-year deal after there was speculation whether he would stay or leave when his contract expires.

Slott answers Salah’s question after Inter win: ‘We should talk about the players we have here’

However, this season Salah and Liverpool have not lived up to last year’s standards. The Reds currently sit 10th in the Premier League after losing six of their first 15 games, while Salah himself has only scored four goals and provided two assists in 13 appearances.
Slott’s poor form forced Salah to be benched, with the Egyptian, the club’s all-time leading scorer, left off the bench in two of Liverpool’s last three Premier League games.
His last start was on 26 November in the Champions League, a 4-1 loss to PSV.
“There’s no reason why we wouldn’t want him to stay. We’re going to talk to Mr. Mo,” Slott said at a press conference today.
“The outcome of that conversation will determine the situation (Saturday).”
Given Liverpool’s poor domestic form both home and away, it looks like Salah will at least be back on the bench for Liverpool’s hugely important fixture against Brighton.
If he does play, it will be his last appearance for Egypt in 2025 before heading to the African Cup of Nations, which could keep him away from the game against Liverpool until January 18th if they reach the final.
Following Salah’s comments and subsequent disdain from the game against Inter, it was thought he might have played his last game for the club, but Slott confirmed he was part of the team that did not select him at Milan.
“We decided as a club not to bring him to Milan and I was part of that decision,” Slott said.
“I’m in constant contact with them (sporting director Richard Hughes and chief executive Michael Edwards) and they leave it up to me when it comes to line-up and team decisions.”
