Mo Salah wanted to be celebrated before leaving for AFCON, but nothing was far from the minds of some Liverpool supporters
Actions speak louder than words. Especially when the amount of words being said about Mo Salah is now almost unbearable.
Jamie Carragher, take note.
But the world of football will finally find a definitive answer to the true extent of the damage Salah has caused to Liverpool’s relationship with Liverpool at 3pm this weekend at Anfield.
The original idea was for Salah to be given a hero’s send-off. Saturday’s visit to Brighton was supposed to be his last appearance for Egypt before heading to the Africa Cup of Nations.
Salah had invited his parents to attend the ceremony. A carefully thought out plan…
The last time Salah was paraded on the Anfield pitch, he placed himself on a golden throne. He was sitting there with a big smile on his face, having just signed a new £400,000-a-week contract. It was the most profitable in the club’s history.

Eight months have passed and the “King of Egypt” has now snatched his throne from behind his backside.
He fell flat on his face after his astonishing abuse of Arne Slott and the club had a detrimental effect on the English champions.
Some believe Salah is right to speak out if he believes he is being treated unfairly. Others, however, accused Salah of being selfish for breaking dressing room rules.
To kick a club that fell into the dump. We now live in a world where no one is exempt from having an opinion.
And those opinions come at us like a flood from all angles, sometimes overwhelming us and even drowning us. But perhaps the saddest aspect is that Salah forced his supporters to take sides.
He has created an explosive and divisive scenario at a time when Liverpool need unity more than ever. It remains to be seen whether Salah will darken the doors at Anfield this weekend.
After all, he is not expected to join the team in the slot. Perhaps he would be better off staying home alone instead.
Considering what he has achieved, Salah should be cherished and celebrated. Every time his departure was revealed, it was supposed to be a moment to be savored.
This week at Tottenham, there was a send-off similar to that of Son Heung-min.
The South Korean, who played 454 games and scored 173 goals for Spurs, is back at the club for the first time since joining Los Angeles FC in the summer.
He looked like a homecoming hero, grabbing the microphone and delivering a moving speech to his enthusiastic supporters.
This must have been what Salah had in mind. But it now seems unlikely that Liverpool’s flawed champions will receive similar praise.
For once, Salah may have to walk alone.
