Ex-Liverpool player Jurgen Klopp is linked with a move to Real Madrid as pressure mounts on Xabi Alonso, with the German making clear his stance on a move to the Bernabéu
Jurgen Klopp is already said to be open to a move to Real Madrid, fueling speculation that the former Liverpool manager could soon become a target for the Spanish giants.
Los Blancos are having a tough run under manager Xabi Alonso, and there are reports that he could even be sacked if they fail to beat Manchester City in the Champions League on Wednesday. Former Liverpool manager Klopp is seen as one of the frontrunners to replace Alonso should Real choose to leave, and the German does not appear to be opposed to a move to Spain.
Reports in Brazil earlier this year suggested that Klopp was already dissatisfied with his role as Red Bull’s head of global football and was considering leaving for two specific jobs: Real Madrid and the Brazilian national team.
There are currently no performances in Brazil, with Carlo Ancelotti set to oversee the country’s World Cup campaign. He talked about a possible return to the dugout earlier this year. “He said he would never coach another team in England, which means (if he returns) it will be Liverpool,” Klopp told the CEO’s Diary podcast.
“Well, in theory it’s possible. I love what I do now and I don’t miss coaching. I don’t. I mean, I’m a coach, but I’m not a player, it’s just different. And I don’t miss it.”

“I don’t miss standing in the rain for two and a half to three hours. I don’t miss going to press conferences three times a week and doing 10 to 12 interviews a week. I don’t miss that either.”
“I definitely was in the dressing room in the sense that it wasn’t very often. I coached about 1,080 games, so I was in the dressing room quite often.
“I’m 58 years old. That’s old to you, old to them, but not that old. That means I can make a decision in a few years. I don’t know. (If) I had to make a decision today, I wouldn’t coach anymore, but thank God I don’t have to. I’ll just see what the future holds.”

And although manager Klopp would be interested in a move to Spain, Alonso doesn’t seem ready to leave Real Madrid just yet. When asked if he still has the support of the team, the Spaniard answered: “Yes.”
“The team is united, the team is confident,” Alonso added. “Everyone is confident that we can win tomorrow. No one has any doubts. But for that we have to play with good rhythm, intensity and compete.”
