Jamie Carragher took the opportunity to apologize to Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah on live TV on Tuesday night following the Reds’ star-less victory over Inter Milan at San Siro.
Jamie Carragher has apologized live to Mohamed Salah after he made comments about the Liverpool forward. Speaking on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football, Carragher condemned Salah’s harsh post-match comments following Saturday’s draw with Leeds United as “disgraceful” and questioned whether the Egyptian forward would feature again for the club.
The former Liverpool defender said: “Every time Mo Salah stops in a mixed zone, which he has done four times in the last eight years, I think it’s choreographed for him and his agent to do maximum damage and strengthen their position. He did it 12 months ago, and I called him out on this program for it, but he made a play that struck a chord with Liverpool supporters.”
“Liverpool were top of the league and he had scored the winning goal against Southampton. That’s when the pressure was put on the Liverpool ownership. So for the rest of the season there will be banners in the crowd that say ‘Give Mo the Dough’. He did this. I think he was waiting for it to be bad for Liverpool because he conceded a goal at the last minute and it felt like the supporters, the manager and the club were all in trouble, and he chose that time to attack the manager and maybe try to sack him.

On Tuesday, Carragher made his usual appearance on CBS Sports’ Champions League broadcast, along with Micah Richards, Thierry Henry and presenter Kate Scott.
After discussing Salah’s explosive comments, Richards turned to Carragher and asked: “Could you please apologize to Mo and say I’m sorry for being rude?”
“It just comes from passion. You’re a fan. Say it into the lens.”
Mr Carragher replied: “Mr. Mo, I’m sorry for offending you.
“I love you as a Liverpool player, but you just need to behave well off the pitch.”
Mr Richards added: “That makes sense, it seemed very genuine,” before holding out his hand to shake Mr Carragher’s hand.
Salah was absent from Liverpool’s 1-0 win over Inter Milan at San Siro on Tuesday night, having been removed from the squad by manager Arne Slott following his comments.
It remains to be seen whether he will feature in Saturday’s Premier League match against Brighton at Anfield (3pm) before heading to the AFCON against Egypt.
