Jamie Carragher takes another shot after Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah was left home by Arne Slott in the Champions League match against Inter Milan
Jamie Carragher continues his campaign against Mohamed Salah with a post on social media ahead of Liverpool vs. Inter Milan. Salah has been left out of the squad to travel to northern Italy for Tuesday’s Champions League match following his explosive comments about Arne Slott at Elland Road.
The Egyptian star trained with his team-mates on Merseyside on Monday before Liverpool’s bosses decided to leave him at home. The incident comes after Slott threw him under the bus and accused the club of trying to scapegoat him and force him out.
Salah named Carragher as one of the pundits who he feels has been unfair in their criticism of him this season. And the former Liverpool defender used his appearance on Monday Night Football to hit back with an eight-minute rant against the 33-year-old forward.
Their beef continued on Tuesday when Salah posted a photo of himself in an empty gym at Liverpool’s training ground. In response, Carragher wrote on X: “I don’t think I’ve wanted Liverpool to win more than tonight for a long time! Come on, you mighty Reds.”

Carragher went further during CBS Sports’ Champions League broadcast. “I really hope they win tonight,” he said. “Of course I expressed my opinion on it last night and I don’t want to say it again. But I saw that post today and was a little annoyed.”
Asked what the problem was, he said: “He didn’t mention that Liverpool are playing tonight. Liverpool have a bigger game tonight at San Siro, which is more important, and they had to get a result against PSV last time, when Mo Salah was playing.”
“So if you put a comment like “I wish the players the best of luck tonight”… he might not have meant it, I don’t know. But Liverpool have a big game tonight and he posts something like that on social media – and I’m told he hasn’t posted in six weeks. I don’t follow Mo Salah for obvious reasons!
Asked if Salah had removed him from his followers, Carragher said: “Probably so. But in the last six weeks Liverpool have had their worst run since the 1950s. Back then he wasn’t posting to support the manager, the club, the team or give supporters hope for the future. This morning, he’s doing that about himself.”
Liverpool are yet to make a decision on whether Salah will feature in Saturday’s Premier League match against Brighton, having started on the bench in the last three league games. He is set to head out on international duty, representing Egypt at next week’s African Cup of Nations.
