Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has insisted the Reds “need” Mohamed Salah to turn their season around.
The Egyptian player added that he no longer had a relationship with coach Arne Slott and had been made the scapegoat for the team’s recent poor performance.
However, Liverpool icon Gerrard defended Salah, insisting Liverpool need the 33-year-old to help them overcome their dismal run.
“He’s obviously really upset not being able to play and I respect that,” Gerrard told TNT Sports. “He’s not going to be left out of the team and I respect that. Those few lines about throwing people under the bus are wrong. He needs to turn around a little bit from there.”
“He needs to address this issue with the manager. To do that, he needs to ask Virgil van Dijk: ‘How do we resolve this issue in the interests of the fans, not the club or the team?’
Gerrard continued: “I’ve seen this and I’ve lived it. When (Luis) Suarez fell out with Brendan (Rodgers), I lived it. I’ve seen it all.”

“From a personal point of view, I was there too. When he got sent off against[Man]United, Salah said it within 30 seconds. So no one is perfect.”
“We’ve all lost our heads as players. We’ve all done emotional things. And eventually, when this subsides, Mo will say, ‘I shouldn’t have said that, maybe I shouldn’t have said that, I got a little emotional, I was a little hasty.’
“But at the end of the day, Liverpool Football Club needs Mo Salah, to play well again and score goals. He is the best player, the best scorer and he will help the team get out of this situation. As things stand, this is going to be bigger than what we all know and what we see.”
Hoddle explained: “It should have been done behind closed doors. He’s a great player and a great addition to Liverpool.”
“Liverpool, too, with the way they are now, the most important thing is that they get results under their belt. He’s not thinking about the club, he’s thinking about himself.
“That’s the right decision. What happens from there, if the coach thinks the team can win really well, that would be a very good point to say we can go win without you, Mo.”
“I have to say that in the end it was the right decision and I hope Liverpool get a result.”
