Arne Slott continues to face questions about the Egyptian international Mohamed Salah’s position at the club after he made shocking comments about Liverpool and its manager.
Manager Arne Slott has refused to say whether Mohamed Salah will feature in Liverpool’s Premier League match against Brighton on Saturday after hinting it could be the Egyptian star’s last game for the club. Salah appeared to surprise the Liverpool manager with his comments after the Reds’ 3-3 draw with Leeds United.
He accused the club of “throwing him under the bus” and revealed how his relationship with Slott had soured. The 33-year-old winger also explained how he told his family to come to the Brighton game because he didn’t know what would happen next.
Salah will be ‘waving farewell’ to Liverpool fans at Anfield as he departs for AFCON next week.

In an interview with Prime Video, Slott was asked if Salah would feature in this weekend’s game against the Seagulls. The Dutch player laughed a little and then said: “We came here for the Inter Milan match.
I’m sure you can understand that the last two days have been difficult. A lot of things happened after we conceded in the last minute against Leeds. Not for the first time this season, but what happened after that.
“So I think you can understand that I am fully committed to Inter Milan right now and we will see what the future holds.”
Asked for his overall thoughts on Salah’s comments, Slott replied: “No, it’s far from ideal. It’s not good for anyone. First of all, it’s not good for the club, it’s not good for the team, it’s not good for him either. So it’s far from ideal.”
“But we responded by not bringing him here (Italy) and that says what we felt about his comments.”
Salah’s comments came after the winger was featured on the bench for Liverpool’s last three games. Of those three games, the 33-year-old only played 45 minutes against Sunderland and did not feature at all against West Ham and Leeds.
Salah called Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher in his frustration. Following his comments, he felt the former Liverpool defender would “target him again”. On Monday, Mr Carragher had a chance to respond.
Appearing on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football, Carragher fumed: “I thought his behavior after the game was disgraceful. Some people are portraying this as an emotional outburst, but I don’t think that’s the case.”
The Liverpool legend added: “I think he chose to do this this weekend and was waiting for things to turn out badly for Liverpool. You saw that last-minute goal and it feels like Liverpool supporters, the manager and everyone at the club are in a tizzy at the moment. And he might be trying to get a manager at that moment and maybe sack him.”
Salah agreed to a new two-year deal last season, with his original contract expiring in the summer. Similar to the current situation with Alexander Isak at Newcastle, he accused Liverpool of “broken promises” made ahead of the new season.
Tonight, Salah will watch his team play Inter Milan in the Champions League from home. However, it is still unclear whether he will feature in Saturday’s match against Brighton, which could be his final game for Liverpool.
