Manchester United star Rasmus Højlund spent the summer on loan at Serie A side Napoli, but it appears the forward has no plans to return to Old Trafford any time soon.
Manager Rasmus Høylund has admitted there is no way he will return to Manchester United after mentioning his future plans in Italy. The Danish striker left Old Trafford in the summer to join Serie A side Napoli on a season-long loan.
The current Italian champions paid a loan fee of 6 million euros (approximately 520 million yen), but the option to sign Hoylund permanently is available for 44 million euros (approximately 38.4 million pounds). This clause will become mandatory if Antonio Conte’s side qualify for the Champions League. And Hojlund seems to have already taken the stance that he is a permanent Napoli player.
Speaking to DAZN after scoring twice in the 2-1 win over Juventus at the weekend, the striker promised: “Next season I will be giving interviews in Italian.”
Hoylund, 22, joined Man United from Serie A side Atalanta in 2023 for £64 million. He scored 16 goals in his debut season, but only 10 the following season, after which he was allowed to join Napoli.

And he is already on the brink of surpassing that, having scored six goals in all competitions for Napoli this season. Regarding his recent form, Hoylund added:
“I know how important it is for the coach to keep the ball and try to take advantage of the game, and I also know how important it is to press hard and keep the team compact. I scored two goals tonight, and it’s all thanks to my teammates, the coach and the staff.”
After scoring, Hojlund held a celebration with Conte’s coaching staff and blamed his guidance on the training ground for the two goals.

He added: “Gianluca and the staff spoke well about my movements in the box. I tended to go to the back post, but they told me there was space in front. I attacked more forward and it worked out well so I’m happy.”
Meanwhile, Napoli captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo was full of praise for Hojlund, who continues to impress in Italy. The player said, “I’m definitely happy. Tonight we played high-tempo, open soccer and had a really great and intense performance.”
“These are our characteristics and we are happy, and we are also happy with Rasmus. He scored twice today, but he always helps us every game. We reacted strongly in difficult moments, which shows great team spirit.”
Hoylund will aim to continue his form this weekend as Napoli travel to Benfica in the Champions League ahead of their trip to Udinese on Sunday afternoon.
