Mohamed Salah slams Jamie Carragher, accuses him of ‘throwing Liverpool under the bus’ and reveals he has nothing to do with Arne Slott
Mohamed Salah targeted Jamie Carragher during an interview, casting doubt on his future at Liverpool. Speaking after the 3-3 draw with Leeds United, Salah sensationally claimed he had been “thrown under the bus” by the club and had nothing to do with Arne Slott.
The forward did not come on as a substitute in Saturday’s 3-3 draw, making it the third straight game for the Egyptian forward to start on the bench. In a wide-ranging interview that lasted more than seven minutes, Salah slammed former Reds defender Carragher.
Asked about his interest in the Saudi Professional League, the 33-year-old said: “You never know in football. I can’t accept this situation. I’ve done a lot for this club. I don’t want to answer this question[about Saudi Arabia]because the club is going to take me in a different direction.”
“It really hurts when you think about what I’ve done for the club. You can really imagine. Going from home to the club and not knowing if I’m starting or not. I know the club well, I’ve been here for years. Tomorrow (Jamie) Carragher (former Liverpool defender and Sky Sports pundit) will go for me again and again and that’s fine.”
The reference to Carragher came after the Reds lost 3-0 at home to Nottingham Forest, with the Kop icon criticizing Salah’s leadership and accusing him of only speaking when he “needs a new contract or gets man of the match”.

“After the Forest game, Virgil van Dijk came out and spoke, which is what a captain should do,” Carragher told Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football.
“Even after a big defeat for Liverpool, it’s always Van Dijk who comes out and speaks. The captain should do it, but there are other players in the dressing room who should also speak on behalf of the club.”
“One year ago this weekend, Mo Salah was unashamedly talking about his situation and how the club didn’t offer him a contract. “The only time I listen to Salah is when he wins man of the match or when he needs a new contract.
“I would like to see Salah come out as one of Liverpool’s leaders and a legend and represent the team.”
Salah has played 18 games so far this season, scoring five goals and providing three assists, but he hasn’t reached his usual level. And Carragher claimed before Liverpool’s 2-0 win over West Ham United last weekend that Salah’s leg was missing.
He said: “The catalysts for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool in 2018 were Alisson, (Virgil) van Dijk and Salah.
“Alison has had a lot of injuries at the moment and hasn’t played much. But if you look at Van Dijk now, he’s not the same player. And Mo Salah looks like he’s lost a leg.”
