Manchester United are expected to focus on rebuilding their midfield in 2026, and one of their young targets caught the eye during last week’s thrilling Champions League game.
Manchester United are said to have sent scouts to watch Olympiakos’ hugely popular teenage midfielder Christos Moussatis during last week’s thrilling Champions League clash with Real Madrid.
In recent weeks, Europe’s elite, including a number of Premier League clubs, are said to be interested in the 18-year-old. And the youngster caught the attention of Olympiakos, who lost 4-3 against Los Blancos, and has been on the radar of several potential suitors.
The Sun reports that Manchester United are “increasing their interest” in Mousakitis by having Greek representatives monitor him. Interestingly, Real Madrid are one of the other clubs understood to be monitoring the midfield maestro’s development, meaning they have had the opportunity to see his incredible talent first-hand.

Moussatis, who won the coveted Tuttosport Golden Ball Web Award earlier this week, is said to be valued at around £40 million by Olympiakos.
However, his value is expected to rise heading into the January transfer window as a number of clubs continue to pursue him. They include Borussia Dortmund, AC Milan and Juventus, with Arsenal and Aston Villa also courting Mouszatis in the Premier League.
It remains to be seen whether United intend to formalize their interest in Moussatis in the January transfer window, but they remain linked with another midfielder.
The Red Devils spent around £200m overhauling their attack in the summer, with Ruben Amorim and others expected to turn their attention to United’s engine room next.
Carlos Bareva, Elliott Anderson and Adam Wharton are also accused of being targets. Wolves’ Joao Gomez has also been linked with a move to Old Trafford, and given the club’s current plight at the bottom of the Premier League, a move could become more likely in January.
However, Gomez will be unavailable for Wolves, who travel to Manchester to face United on Monday night. That comes after the £44m star picked up his fifth yellow card of the season in Wednesday’s 1-0 home defeat to Nottingham Forest and was suspended.
