Manchester United 1-1 West Ham: Manchester United looked set for a valuable Premier League win but were stopped in the closing stages by a stubborn Hammers side at Old Trafford.
Manchester United lose their Premier League win streak after a brutal late punch from West Ham at Old Trafford
After defeating Crystal Palace in their last game, United were aiming for back-to-back wins and a place in the Champions League. Then Diogo Dalot’s first Premier League goal in a year and a half put them ahead and it looked like victory was on the way.
However, West Ham’s attack was not to be denied as Sungutu Magassa scored late on to secure a share of the spoils.
The draw means Ruben Amorim’s side will move into eighth place ahead of next Monday’s encounter with struggling Wolves. West Ham, on the other hand, remain in the relegation zone with just one loss in their last five games.
Here are the talking points from Old Trafford.

Manchester United’s revised defense
Injuries to Harry Maguire and Matthijs de Ligt forced manager Ruben Amorim to name a somewhat revamped backline, with Luke Shaw and Nousser Mazraoui in central positions alongside youngster Aiden Haven. And the former Arsenal player appeared to be struggling to get used to the game.
He was spun several times by Callum Wilson and received an early yellow card. As a result, Amorim brought on Lenny Yolo in place of Heaven at half-time.

Wan-Bissaka denies Zirkzee
Man United were well aware of Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s defensive abilities when they agreed to let him join the Hammers. And they put on a show at Old Trafford, denying the Red Devils’ best chance of the first half.
Amad ran past El Hadji Malik Diouf and fired a defiant cross towards Zirkzee. After scoring against Crystal Palace, the Dutchman did a good job of getting his body onto the ball and diverting it towards goal, only to find Wan-Bissaka on the goal line.
The defender proved to be a stubborn opponent throughout the match. United may have felt he should have been sent off with two yellow cards, but it was still an impressive performance.
Dalot strikes first
With Matheus Cunha and Brian Mbeumo back for the Red Devils, some may have thought one of them would score the opening goal of the game. But it came from a very unlikely source: Diogo Dalot.
The ball fell into the hands of a Portuguese defender after West Ham failed to clear. He took a moment to compose himself before finishing calmly. It was the 26-year-old’s first Premier League goal since May 2024, but no one would have expected it given the cultured nature of his finishing.
Casemiro stands out
Although it wasn’t the result the Red Devils had hoped for, there were still some impressive performances, most notably from Casemiro. It was another great performance from the Brazilian, who has had an impressive season.
The midfielder made three tackles, made one interception and one clearance, and also blocked three shots. His comeback is truly remarkable considering he came so close to leaving Old Trafford last season.
And if United decide to return to the Champions League, it’s safe to say the former Real Madrid star could play a key role.

To be honest, the quality of the show at Old Trafford wasn’t very high. The only thing that really stood out was the goal.
Dalot’s finishing was sophisticated and the same could be said for Magassa’s equalizer. The ball was cleared on the line by Mazraoui before flying towards the 22-year-old.
However, he did not panic and calmly placed the ball into the bottom corner of the goal. The excitement was certainly felt by him as he celebrated with glee, but considering it was his first Premier League goal, I don’t think many would really begrudge him that.
