Casemiro will receive £247,000 from his former club São Paulo after a long-standing industrial dispute over his employment-related payments during his time at the academy was resolved this week.
Manchester United star Casemiro is set to receive £247,000 in favor of his former club Sao Paulo after reaching a formal agreement to resolve a labor dispute, according to reports from Brazil. The midfielder joined Real Madrid from his boyhood club in 2013, but remains linked with Sao Paulo over unpaid money claims.
The case, which has been going on since 2014, has now been settled with an agreed payment of £247,000 to the 33-year-old, Brazilian outlet UOL reported via Sport Witness. This will give him a significant financial boost at the end of the year, in addition to a hefty weekly salary.
The claim relates to employment-related payments from his time at the academy and is understood to be around £290,000, although the final amount is slightly less. The case involved standard contractual add-ons such as image rights fees, match-related revenue, bonuses and holiday rights.

Casemiro will receive payments on a monthly basis, but could actually rake in up to £363,000 if Sao Paulo fail to stick to their payment schedule. Both companies agreed to these terms and the local labor court approved the settlement this week.
Next month, Casemiro will enter the final six months of his contract with United, making him free to negotiate with clubs outside England. A move seemed inevitable last summer, but the experienced midfielder stayed and rewarded Ruben Amorim’s faith in him.
Casemiro has been exceptional, as he usually only plays once a week for United, but his stamina could face scrutiny next season.
He played the full 90 minutes in last weekend’s 2-1 win over Crystal Palace, but his game time will be closely monitored as Amorim’s side face West Ham United, Wolves and Bournemouth over the next 12 days.
However, Casemiro has received four yellow cards in the Premier League and risks missing one of those matches due to suspension.
After the meeting in Bournemouth, Amad, Brian Mbeumo and Nousair Mazraoui will all be unavailable as they depart for AFCON. Despite various injury concerns across the squad, United have lost just one of their last seven Premier League games and remain eighth in the table.
A win against the Hammers would move them into fourth place, with the other teams having already played their 14 games.
When asked in a press conference about progressing into the Champions League places and maintaining that position, Amorim replied: “I understand the question. If we have a spot, if we have a chance, we need to go for it one game a week.”
“But if you look at the standings, it looks like everyone is two points behind. Everything could change in a week.
“Let’s focus. I think the best way to get things going, especially for the team, is just to focus on the next game. If we win the next game, we’ll at least maintain our place. That’s the main focus.”
“It’s certainly realistic to move up into the Champions League places in the next few weeks. We don’t know what the future holds. We want to stay close to that position next week. After that we’ll see.”
