Arsenal have added a new face with sporting director Andrea Berta offering to help the Gunners’ recruitment department in time for the January transfer window.
Transfer expert Maurizio Micheli has started work at Arsenal ahead of the January transfer window. According to reports, the recruitment specialist has been appointed to a senior role in the Gunners’ talent acquisition hierarchy.
Micheli comes from Serie A powerhouse Napoli and will work under sporting director Andrea Berta, who was appointed earlier this year. The Italian has already featured in the game, and was also present in Arsenal’s win over Brentford at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night.
The north London side are hoping to move up the table following the departure of assistant sporting director Jason Ayt in May. Mr. Ait served as interim athletic director before Mr. Berta was handed over the position.
Micheli joins the prestigious Arsenal. The Italian player made a name for himself as head of scouting at Hellas Verona, Bologna, Brescia and Napoli.
During his time at Napoli, players such as Kim Min-jae and Hviča Kvaratscheria were plucked from relative obscurity. Micheli also had an eye on Marek Hamsik before he moved to Brescia.

“I am in contact with Maurizio Micheli, Napoli’s chief scout. I owe him a lot,” Hamsik told Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport in 2022.
“He was the first person to take me to Italy (Brescia).”
Arsenal are looking to be proactive in the transfer department and have already announced two players. However, neither will participate until 2027.
The Gunners have confirmed they have reached pre-contract agreement with twins Edwin and Holger Quintero from Ecuador’s Independiente del Valle.
The Quinteros brothers arrived in London earlier this week to finalize the details of the transfer. The brothers have been on the radar of Arsenal’s talent spotters over the past 12 months, with Edwin being compared to a young Neymar and Holger likened to Thiago Alcantara.
The deal follows Arsenal’s signing of another potential star player. They have already announced a preliminary agreement to sign Victor Ozianvna.
The Shamrock Rovers ace will join the Premier League side in 2027, when he turns 18, after making an impressive breakthrough in Ireland.
