Three Manchester United teenagers, including striker Chido Obi, are set to go on loan in January as manager Ruben Amorim prioritizes first-team appearances for his developing stars.
Three Manchester United players are set to leave the club on loan next month. Chido Obi, Aiden Haven and Diego Leao are the trio in question, and United head coach Ruben Amorim is poised to give them more first-team experience in the second half of the season.
Firstly, Obi has not played a single minute for United’s first team during the 2025/26 season since Amorim decided to keep him in the Under-21s this season. Since then, he has shone, scoring five goals in 13 games.
The 18-year-old, who made eight first-team appearances for the Red Devils last season, has continued to develop and there are rumors that his next step could be on loan in the January transfer window.

In fact, The Sun reports that United are open to loaning Obi next month to help him further develop by getting more first-team minutes in the EFL and National League.
Heaven, 19, is another player United are targeting on loan. The youngster was thrust into the spotlight by Amorim last season, particularly with his performance against his former club Arsenal.
However, like Obi, Heaven is finding it difficult to play regular games for the first team this season. He came on midway through the second half against Fulham and Brighton in the Premier League, playing just 28 minutes.
And with Lisandro Martinez returning from injury, Haven has been relegated to third-choice left centre-back, behind Argentina World Cup winner and England international Luke Shaw.
Heaven’s spot on the bench could be in jeopardy if Harry Maguire returns to fitness in the coming weeks. Haven recently featured for the Under-21s in the National League Cup against Solihull Moors.
United’s other young player, Leon, has also been linked with a loan move. The 2007-born prodigy joined the Reds from Cerro Porteno in the summer but has yet to make his first-team debut.
Despite being named in the senior matchday squad four times, Leon has only seen playing time with the Under-21 team this season. He scored his first goal for Travis Binion’s side in a 4-1 win over Tottenham in October.
Goalkeeper Radek Vitek has continued to develop since being loaned to Championship side Bristol City in the summer, while full-back Harry Amass has impressed for Sheffield Wednesday. Vitek and Amas look ready to step up to United’s first team next summer.
The Reds could recall Amas due to issues at left wing-back, but the club believe it is best for Wednesday to continue his development on loan.
England Under-20 forward Ethan Wheatley, 19, made 17 appearances for Northampton Town in League One, scoring three goals and providing two assists. Meanwhile, midfielders Ethan Ennis and Dan Gore have featured extensively for Fleetwood Town and Rotherham United respectively.
