Former Manchester United star Paul Parker made more than £100,000 by selling a number of priceless memorabilia from his career. Parker, 61, played for the Red Devils from 1991 to 1996, making 146 appearances.

During that time, he played under legendary former manager Sir Alex Ferguson, winning the Premier League, FA Cup and League Cup. However, Parker was willing to part with many items throughout his playing career.

According to The Sun, the former defender has decided to auction off the miniature silver Premier League trophy that was given to the winner in place of a medal during the 1992/93 season. The trophy reportedly sold for £27,280 when it was auctioned.

Other highlights include Parker’s medal in United’s 1993/94 Premier League win and victory over Chelsea in the FA Cup that year. Each medal cost £16,120.

Parker’s League Cup winners’ medal sold for £5,700, while his Charity Shield sold for £1,736. Apart from memorabilia from his club career, Parker also decided to say goodbye to a number of memorabilia from his international career.

The former right-back has sold all 19 of his England caps. Each cost £3,720, with the exception of the cap Parker won while playing for the Three Lions in Italy’s 1990 World Cup semi-final defeat to West Germany, which he earned £8,060 in return.

A spokesperson for auctioneer Buds said: “The main reason for the sale is that he is very friendly with Viv Anderson and the other players who have sold their collections.

“There is a very strong market for Manchester United memorabilia at the moment so he wants to maximize its value and donate the proceeds to his family.”

Speaking about his Man United career earlier this year, Parker said: “All I wanted as a kid was to play for the biggest club possible. I always said aim as high as you can. If you fail, you can always fall down, but if you can, start at the top.”

“The FA Cup final was a dream. It was what I wanted when I was a kid playing in the garden. Back then, the FA Cup was a glamorous game. It was the last game of the season and the game everyone talked about.”

“It wasn’t until I got into professional football that I realized that the real prize is the league and the marathon. That’s what you’re being judged on. You don’t have to be a great team to win the FA Cup, but you have to be a great team to win a league title.”

“Both the teams I played for under Sir Alex and the teams that followed were great champions because of the football they played. They were expansive, fearless and always aggressive. We were never told to back down. We played forward!”
