Two of the star players affected by clashes between fans and players after recent Ligue 1 matches are aiming for a move in January, including a former Premier League prospect.
Former Chelsea forward Jeremy Boga is reportedly determined to leave Nice after clashing with a fan at the club’s training ground. Reports from France said Boga and teammate Therem Moffi were mobbed by around 400 fans who kicked and spat on them.
Boga, who comes from Chelsea’s youth ranks and once played in the Premier League under manager Antonio Conte, has played more than 70 games for his current club since joining from Atalanta in 2023. Boga has apologized after reportedly being targeted for inviting Marseille fans to Nice’s Allianz Riviera stadium following the recent defeat to Roberto de Zerbi’s side.
According to RMC Sport, Boga and Moffi are on medical leave following the incident, which occurred after the league defeat to Lorient. However, it is believed that neither player wants to play for the club again.
“On Sunday, the Eaglets returned from Lorient and were welcomed at the training ground by an important gathering,” Nice said in a statement. “The club understands the frustration caused by a series of poor plays and performances that are inconsistent with its values.
“However, the excesses we saw at this rally are unacceptable. Several members of the club have been attacked. OGC Nice fully supports them and condemns these actions with the highest degree of severity.”

On Monday, ESPN reported that two Nice fans tried to confront players on the team bus as they returned from the game against Lorient. An anonymous player questioned the lack of help from security, telling the magazine: “Why aren’t they protecting us more? It was incredibly scary.”
Nice, who finished fourth in Ligue 1 last season, have lost their last four on a spin and are now 10th in Ligue 1. They are also the only team without a point in the Europa League, losing all five of their league phase matches.
Boga, 28, will wait to see if he will be allowed to take time off from club duties at the African Cup of Nations. He was part of the Ivorian team that won the last home tournament, but has not featured for Emers Fahe’s national team since June and will find out later this month whether he will be recalled to the continental tournament.
Nigeria national team striker Moffi is also a player who is feeling anxious ahead of AFCON. The 26-year-old played for the Super Eagles during the October international break, but was dropped by Eric Schell in November after the national team lost in the World Cup qualifying play-offs to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, ending his hopes of featuring.
