Millions of people watched on TV as Newcastle captain Bruno Guimarães jumped over the advertising enclosure to celebrate with Dylan Marshall, 21, and his mother Victoria, 44.
The Premier League star scored a stunning goal before jumping into the crowd to celebrate with a disabled fan who told him: “That was for you.” Newcastle captain Bruno Guimarães was seen on television for millions as he jumped over a billboard at St James’ Park.
He had just given the Magpies a 1-0 lead in the 71st minute of Tuesday night’s dramatic 2-2 draw against Spurs. He ran into the crowd and ended up celebrating with Dylan Marshall, 21, and his mother Victoria Marshall, 44.
The pair were watching from the outer perimeter of the pitch near the far corner of Gallowgate. Bruno lands on Dylan’s lap and tells Dylan, “That was for you.”
The boy, who is paralyzed from the neck down due to Larsen’s syndrome, a rare genetic disorder, told the Mirror: “He landed right on top of me. My mom had to grab my chair when he landed on top of the controls. He just said, ‘That was for you.’
“Then he was celebrating too, surrounded by all the players. He did some damage to the ad buildup.”

Dylan uses his mouth to take control of a computer game. A Toon fan, he has been a regular at home games since 2017.
His favorite player is former England star Kieran Trippier, with whom he enjoyed playing FIFA PlayStation football.
Victoria, a teaching assistant who lives with Dylan in Lynemouth, Northumberland, joked: “I was a bit worried about what was going to happen to Dylan’s chair when he was on the control panel. I can’t believe it was seen by everyone watching on TV.”
Many of Newcastle United’s security guards came over to have a chat with Victoria after the final whistle after watching Dylan celebrate with the Brazilian star.
She shows them the damage to the advertising warehouse that Bruno jumped over to celebrate his goal. And we loved the photo of the goal celebration that Miller shared with her.
He added: “I can’t believe it. The pictures are so funny. Dylan loves football and he’s been asked to manage the Tynemouth team, so we can never stay like this.”
Karen Brown, 45, from Morpeth, Northumberland, was also seen on television footage sitting in a wheelchair right next to Dylan when Bruno appeared in the crowd.
She said: “It was natural to celebrate the goal, but Bruno ended up on Dylan’s lap next to me. It all happened so quickly. It was such an amazing goal and I think he was so excited that he jumped in with us.”
In 2014, Dylan completed the 4K Great North Juniors in a wheelchair with his mother Victoria, but vowed to cross the finish line on his feet while raising money for the Sick Children Trust.
He underwent more than seven months of intensive physiotherapy and orthopedic therapy, before continuing his rehabilitation at Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary.
He also fulfilled his dream of becoming the Magpies’ mascot for the game against Manchester City that year.
14-month-old Dylan underwent pioneering surgery at Newcastle General Hospital to remove four bones from his neck and replace them with one of his lower left ribs.
A second operation then attempted to fix the ribs to the rest of the spine, and the baby was forced to wear a traction ‘halo’ to keep her head from moving for months.
Larsen syndrome is a rare genetic disorder that affects bone development throughout the body.
Affected individuals are usually born with their legs bent inward and upward, and their hips, knees, elbows, and flexible joints dislocated.
Some people with this condition may experience respiratory illness as a result of weakened airways. This may cause partial closure or shortened breathing.
This condition affects approximately 1 in 100,000 newborns.
