During the summer, Arsenal and Liverpool were among the clubs rumored for Real Madrid star Rodrygo, but a lot has changed for all parties in recent months.
Real Madrid are claimed to be open to Rodrigo leaving the club following interest from Arsenal and Liverpool. However, the Premier League pair may become less keen on a deal in recent months.
Neither Arsenal nor Liverpool were willing to part with £77m to sign the Brazilian over the summer, instead pursuing other targets. With Noni Madukes, Victor Gokeres and Ebere Eze firmly established at the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal’s reasons for making another raid are fading, while Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike and Alexander Isak all joined Liverpool for a combined fee of around £300m.
Rodrygo is one of Madrid’s star players available for signing in January. Endrick’s loan move to Lyon appears to be almost complete, but Dani Ceballos, Fran García and Gonzalo García could also leave on a permanent basis or on loan.
However, there are also concerns about Rodrigo’s form. He has now gone 30 games without scoring, equaling Mariano’s coveted Real Madrid record, but the Dominican international has had a poor showing and his playing time has been short-lived.
Rodrygo has only been featured in the last 15 games this season, and has only been used as a substitute by Xabi Alonso, with just two assists this season. His last goal for the club came in early March, under Carlo Ancelotti, in the Champions League against Atletico Madrid.

It’s been almost a full year since the 24-year-old last scored in La Liga. He had one goal and two assists in a win over Las Palmas in January, but his contribution gave little clue as to what was to come.
Rodrygo remains part of Brazil’s plans despite the club’s difficulties running the club. Former Real Madrid manager Ancelotti is currently in charge of the Selecao and was given the starting forward role during the October and November international breaks, with his brace against South Korea in October being Rodrigo’s only goals of the season.
Arsenal look to be doing well without Rodrigo, with 25 goals after 13 games in the Premier League, second only to Manchester City. With Gabriel Jesus back on the bench after 10 months injured at Chelsea and Kai Havertz expected to return in the coming weeks, they could soon add to their attacking power.
Asked about Germany star Havertz ahead of Wednesday’s game against Brentford, Arteta said: “He was trying his best but he just couldn’t progress to the next level. We’re all keen to get him.”
“He’s a player that I love very much, not only for what he brings to the team, but also for his character and personality. I’ve seen him struggle with being away and I can’t wait to get him back and play. I think he’ll be a big boost for the team.”
