Manager Mikel Arteta has indicated that William Saliba is unlikely to feature in Arsenal’s game against Brentford after missing the draw with Chelsea due to injury. The defender traveled to Stamford Bridge with the Gunners but missed the match against the Premier League leaders.
Providing an update on the 24-year-old in a press conference on Tuesday, Arteta explained: “I won’t be able to help out too much today as we have another training session. He was a bit scrunched up but I think it will be a few days.”
Leandro Trossard was also substituted in the Champions League against Bayern Munich in the first half with a calf injury and may not be able to play against the Bees.
The Belgian underwent further tests on Friday and Arteta said it was “a matter of a few days” before he could rejoin the Arsenal squad.
Meanwhile, the Gunners manager also revealed that Kai Havertz, who underwent minor knee surgery in August, will take “a few weeks” to return to action.
Arteta had previously suggested there was a slim chance the German would be ready to face his former club Chelsea.
The Spanish manager also gave a further update on Arsenal centre-back Gabriel Magalhães, who is currently sidelined with a thigh problem.
“He is doing very well, but it will take a few weeks,” Arteta said of the Brazilian.
Victor Gokeres is expected to be selected to face Keith Andrews’ side at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night.
The Swedish forward picked up a muscular problem in last month’s win over Burnley and returned from the bench against Chelsea on Sunday.
Martin Odegaard has also regained his form, coming off the bench against Bayern Munich and the Blues.
He could be poised to start in his first game since early October, when he damaged knee ligaments in the win over West Ham.
